True Story meme template
True Story is a meme format on WhatiMeme. Used to present a short personal anecdote, humble-brag, coincidence, or petty win as something that actually happened. The smug pose acts as a self-satisfied confirmation. Also used sarcastically when the "story" is too convenient, ironic, or mildly shameful.

How to write this meme
Write one concrete thing that happened. The image already says "True Story," so do not repeat that idea. Aim for humble-brags, petty timing, or "of course this happened to me" moments. Keep it short enough to read in a glance.
Caption zones
- Top text — The anecdote, claim, or situation being presented as something that really happened
Example captions
- Top text: Brought a charger and instantly became the most popular person
Classic prepared-person humble-brag that matches the self-satisfied pose.
- Top text: Said I didn't want the last slice then watched someone else take it
Petty reverse-psychology fail; sarcasm plus the knowing expression.
- Top text: Guessed the plot twist out loud and ruined the movie for myself
Self-deprecating and specific; he looks pleased to be right and annoyed about it.
- Top text: Group project. I did nothing. We got an A
Guilty overconfident flex; the wine-glass pose sells the undeserved win.
Common mistakes
- Writing a long paragraph that crowds the drawing
- Announcing that the story is true instead of just stating the event
- Using a vague setup with no twist or detail
- Adding a second punchline that fights the printed "True Story"
- Picking a story so wild the smug face no longer fits
