How to write this meme
Write a short trigger on top and the bad news or realization on the bottom. Keep both lines brief so the face stays the focus. Match the concerned, not-comedic energy of the photo.
Caption zones
- Top text — The setup or trigger that causes the shocked look
- Bottom text — The reveal, consequence, or what they just heard
Example captions
- Top text: Checking the group chat
- Bottom text: After you left it on mute overnight
Relatable social dread; the expression sells the "what did I miss" panic.
- Top text: It's just a small update
- Bottom text: 47 new required fields
Contrast between the promise and the reality of software/process changes.
- Top text: Your bank app notification
- Bottom text: At 6:03 a.m. on a Saturday
Instant financial dread; the face does the rest.
- Top text: We need to talk about your presentation
- Bottom text: The one you gave yesterday
Delayed criticism after you thought you were safe; timing plus the concerned stare.
Common mistakes
- Using long paragraphs instead of punchy lines
- Putting a happy or silly caption on a worried face
- Making both lines describe the same thing
- Forcing a political joke when a relatable one would land better
- Centering text poorly so it covers the face
