Steve Harvey Family Feud meme template

Steve Harvey Family Feud is a meme format on WhatiMeme. A survey face-off. The top line is the question; the two contestants are rival answers buzzing in while the host waits to see which one the board would accept. The usual joke is a polite, TV-ready answer versus a petty, overly honest, or absurd one.

A game-show stage with a wall of round white lights and blue-green panels. A bald man with a mustache, in a gray suit and blue tie, stands center looking down at a yellow sign that reads Family Feud. Two contestants face inward at matching blue podiums with buzzers: on the left, a woman with long dark hair in a pink top and tan skirt, one hand on her hip; on the right, a blonde woman in a teal top and a white-and-black skirt. No caption text is printed on the image.

How to write this meme

Write a question that could be read aloud on the show, then put the answer a contestant would safely say on the left and the answer a real person would be embarrassed to buzz in with on the right. Keep both labels short enough to sit over the contestants.

Caption zones

  • Top text — The survey question both sides are answering
  • Left label — The answer or side the left contestant is buzzing in with
  • Right label — The rival answer or side the right contestant is buzzing in with

Example captions

  • Top text: Name a reason you're late
  • Left label: Traffic
  • Right label: Hid in the car

Traffic is what you tell the group; hiding in the parked car is the confession. The face-off lets the embarrassing answer compete like it belongs on the board.

  • Top text: Name a party essential
  • Left label: A nice wine
  • Right label: A long story

One side brought a host gift. The other brought lore. The game-show framing treats both as equally valid number-one answers.

  • Top text: Best part of remote work
  • Left label: No commute
  • Right label: No real pants

The left answer could air on television. The right answer is the one you would not buzz in with on camera, which is the whole joke.

  • Top text: What couples fight about
  • Left label: Money
  • Right label: The dishwasher

Money is the survey answer. The dishwasher is the fight that actually happened last night. The contrast is immediate.

  • Top text: A sign you're an adult
  • Left label: Paying bills
  • Right label: New Tupperware

It starts at a real milestone and buzzes in with a deeply domestic thrill, so the host looks like he is judging your life choices.

Common mistakes

  • Making both answers equally normal, so nothing clashes
  • Writing a sentence instead of a buzz-in answer
  • Captioning the host instead of the two contestants
  • Leaving off the question so the labels have nothing to compete over
  • Labeling clothes or real identities instead of assigning roles
